Bolstered by its entry into the WRC in 2014, Hyundai is now believed to be working on a hot hatchback version of the i20 which will be developed using inputs from the rally programme. Hyundai will participate in the 2014 WRC with a rally spec Hyundai i20 that made a surprise debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Not much is known about the car but we expect things like a turbocharged engine, body kit and sporty suspension for some good old front-wheel drive cornering. The company has said that it chose WRC over Formula 1 as it was closer to the road cars in terms of overall development.
2014 should also see Hyundai unveil a new i20. It has already been spotted testing in Korea as well as in South India on multiple occasions. While it is unlikely that India will ever get a hot hatch version of the Hyundai i20, we can at least hope for a special edition in this regard once the car is launched.
