Hyundai is likely to unveil its Grand i10-based sedan on February 4 at the 2014 Auto Expo. The car has been spotted testing on multiple occasions and will be launched a few months after the official unveiling. It is expected to be joined at the Auto Expo by the 2014 Santa Fe and most probably a facelifted version of the Eon compact hatchback.
As we have reported earlier, the Hyundai Grand i10 sedan has been derived from the hatchback and is expected to share much of its design, features and underpinnings with it. It is also expected to make use of the same 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine but is expected to get the 1.4-litre diesel unit from the i20. Transmission options are expected to include a five-speed manual, six-speed manual for the diesel and a four-speed AT box (petrol only).
Hyundai is expected to price the Grand i10 sedan in the range of Rs 5.1 lakh to Rs 7.7 lakh and might just call it the Accent sedan once again. This car will bridge the gap between the i20, Verna and will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and Tata Indigo eCS.
