As far as the Indian market is concerned, Hyundai is best known for making feature-rich small hatchbacks and sedans. It comes as bit of a revelation, then, when the same carmaker launches a BMW-rivalling luxury sedan for nearly half a crore.
Starting April this year, Hyundai UK will add the new Genesis luxury sedan to its European line-up of models. Priced at £47,995 (Rs 44.71 lakh), this new offering will take on the likes of BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class in the UK.
To be made available in limited numbers, the Genesis will be sold only through selected Hyundai dealerships in the UK. It will be powered by a potent 3.8-litre V6 engine delivering 311bhp of power to the rear wheels. The engine will be paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox only.
Standard features on the UK-spec Genesis include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, 360-degree camera view, automatic emergency braking, blind spot detection monitors, ahead-up display, bi-xenon headlights and lots more.
Coming back to the Indian market, the most expensive Hyundai here comes in the form of the Santa Fe SUV which retails at Rs 30 lakh. Besides that, the brand also sells the Elantra sedan in the premium category.
