Hyundai launches Grand i10 hatchback in India for Rs 4.29 lakh

Hyundai has launched the Grand i10 hatchback in India for Rs 4.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The car was officially unveiled on the 7th of August and was shortly followed by the launch of its TV commercial two weeks later. The Grand i10 is available in four variants and with two engine options. Unlike Europe where this car will replace the current i10, in India it will slot in between the current i10 and the more premium i20 hatchback.  

The Hyundai Grand i10 is being offered in four variants – Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta. Some of the new features being offered on this car include adjustable rear AC vents (Magna and above), rear parking sensors, cooled glove box, tilt adjustable steering wheel, smart key with push button start, power outlet for the rear seats and a one GB internal storage for the 2-DIN infotainment system (Sportz and Asta) most of which are first in the segment. We have already revealed all these features as well as exteriors in two exclusive stories that we broke over the last two days. In terms of style and design, it now embodies the Korean automakers Fluidic design philosophy completely and looks more in line with Hyundai’s newer vehicles. The Grand i10 is significantly larger than the current vehicle and that should shift the game in its favour with regard to interior space for the passengers. Hyundai has also said that it is 100mm longer than the European spec car keeping in mind the demand for rear seat space in India. 

The Hyundai Grand i10 is available with one petrol and diesel engine. The petrol engine is the 1.2-litre Kappa unit that produces 83PS and 113Nm of torque, while the diesel engine is a new three cylinder 1.1-litre mill that produces 71PS and 159Nm of torque. The diesel mill has an ARAI fuel efficiency of 24kmpl while the petrol engine has an ARAI efficiency of 18.9kmpl. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox across both engine options.  

The Hyundai Grand i10 competes with the Ford Figo, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Tata Indica Vista and the Maruti Suzuki Ritz.
