The Hyundai Kona electric has been launched in India in a single Premium variant. The electric SUV is powered by a 39.2 kWh battery with an ARAI certified driving range of 452kms per charge. The 134bhp permanent-magnet synchronous motor is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in 9.7-seconds. Interestingly, the vehicle is available with three years/unlimited kilometres warranty, while the high voltage battery comes with a warranty for eight years and up to 1,60,000kms. Exterior
The Hyundai Kona EV gets Bi-functional LED headlamps, sporty roof rails and R17 alloy wheels. As for the rear, the vehicle gets a skid plate and a rear spoiler with high mounted stop lamps.
Interior
Introduced in a single Premium variant, the Kona electric gets leather seats, leather wrapped steering wheel and a premium soft touch pad on the dashboard. The EV gets metal pedals and a digital instrument cluster with supervision.
Infotainment
The Hyundai Kona EV gets an advanced 17.77cms touchscreen display audio with radio, USB and AUX. The system is enabled with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Voice Recognition functions. Moreover, it also helps with charge management and gives out energy information and energy consumption figures. The Kona EV gets steering mounted audio and Bluetooth controls.
Safety
Safety being one of the priorities, the Kona EV is available with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, vehicle stability management and hill assist control. Additionally, the electric SUV also features rear camera with guideline, tyre pressure monitoring system, virtual engine sound system and disc brakes for all-wheels.
Unique features
To customize the driving preference, the Kona EV gets drive mode select – Eco/Eco+, Comfort and Sport. You also get paddle shifters for adjustable regenerative braking. The Kona EV allows one pedal driving, a feature which is quite popular in electric cars and is enabled by the vehicle’s regenerative braking system. Additionally, it also gets an option of driver only air conditioning along with smart eco pedal guide and utility mode.
Comfort and convenience
The Kona EV is not just a technologically advanced product from Hyundai but also comes loaded with a bunch of creaturely comfort features. The SUV gets an electric sunroof, button type shift by wire technology, ventilated and heated front seats, 10-way adjustable electric driver seat with lumbar support, an electric parking brake with autohold and FATC.
