Hyundai India’s upcoming big launch, the ix25, has been spotted in Chennai by an Indian Autos Blog reader. According to the source, the compact crossover was seen alongside a Ford EcoSport which, in all probability, was being used by Hyundai as a benchmark vehicle.
Already on sale in China, the ix25 is likely to hit Hyundai’s Indian showrooms by September this year. It looks like a smaller version of the Santa Fe. In fact, the ix25 gets a pretty similar external design right down to the roofline.
The interior of the ix25 is identical to that of the India-spec Verna down to the overall layout of various bits in the cabin. We believe that the India-spec car will get beige interiors with a feature list for the top spec model that is expected to include touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, power windows, electrically adjustable OVRMs, rear AC vents and at least one optional variant with extra safety features.
Hyundai India is expected to offer the ix25 with the 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol engines while the only diesel option could be the 1.6-litre four cylinder unit from the Verna.
With prices expected to range between Rs 8 lakh to 11 lakh, the ix25 will be seen competing with the likes of the Renault Duster and the Ford EcoSport.
