-The new-gen ix25 was showcased at the 2019 Auto Shanghai in near production guise.
-Previews the new generation India-bound Creta.
-Expected to go on sale later this year, India debut in 2020.
Shortly after showcasing the second generation ix25 at the 2019 Auto Shanghai a few days ago, Hyundai was spotted testing the production-ready model on streets of South Korea already. The SUV would go on sale in the international markets later this year, with the India debut expected to take place next year.
The new-gen ix25 adopts a whole new design language which was also seen on the Palisade, Santa Fe, and the newly revealed Kona. The cascading honeycomb grille gets chrome surrounds while the flanking headlamps have adopted a very contemporary design. The sleek LEDs on top are conjoined by lower headlamps.Â
The roofline has been lowered and slopes into the rear. Similar to the quirky headlamps, the taillamps takes a very modern approach as well. There is a massive LED light bar along with LED cluster on the hatch door, all of which adds to the styling quotient of the car.Â
There has been no official word on the interiors or the power train options for the Chinese market, but we expect the same powertrain units as the model it replaces.Â
When it arrives in India as the second generation Creta in 2020, it will continue to face competition from the likes of the Nissan Kicks, Kia SP2i, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross and the Renault Duster.Â
