Hyundai ix25, the compact crossover has scored 5/5 in C-NCAP in China. The new compact crossover was tested on four parameters - 100 per cent overlap front crash, 40 per cent overlap front crash, whiplash and side impact.
In the 100 percent overlap frontal crash test that was carried out at a speed of 50 kmph, the ix25 scored 15.89 out of a maximum of 18. Carried out at speeds of 64 kmph, the 40 per cent overlap front crash test identical to testing procedures of the Global NCAP saw the ix25 scoring 14.11/18 points in this test.
A moving deformable barrier travelling at speeds of 50-51 kmphwas used for the side impact test in which the ix25 scored 18/18 points. In the Whiplash test too the compact crossover scored full marks.
It seems like the compact crossover from Hyundai will set new standards for safety in its segment when launched in India. The ix25 is longer than the mandatory four-metre length to qualify for excise benefits, while we aren’t sure if Hyundai will work on its length, it seems like a larger car and might be squarely aimed at the Renault Duster instead of the Ford EcoSport.
