It looks like Hyundai’s Ertiga challenger is unlikely to take shape before 2017. According to a recent report by Indian Autos Blog, Hyundai India’s upcoming MPV model, which is currently under development, will not arrive in 2016 as reported earlier.
The new MPV from the Korean automaker is expected to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Honda Mobilio. It is almost certain that Hyundai focus more on the diesel version of the model.
Hyundai reportedly is looking to cater to private buyers, unlike the segment leader Toyota Innova, which mainly draws the attention of fleet operators.
One can expect this new MPV model to be fairly loaded with features and like most recent Hyundais, it will be well made too. Hyundai India, though, will have its work cut out positioning its challenger in what is the highly competitive MPV segment of India.
