Hyundai India has announced that it has registered 12.9 per cent increase in domestic sales. The company sold 39,525 units last month as compared to 35,003 units in the corresponding month last year.
The company saw a big decline in export sales. It managed to export 10,215 units last month as compared to 16,705 in the same month last year, registering a major decline of 38.9 per cent. In the overall sales, Hyundai registered 3.8 per cent decrease. The Elite i20 and the Xcent have done very well in the market, due to which, the Korean manufacturer is able to hold on to the second largest car manufacturer title. It is preparing to launch its next car, the ix25, which is a compact SUV and will compete with the likes of the Ford EcoSport and the Renault Duster. We can expect to see a major bump in Hyundai’s share market, once this car is launched.
“In a market with weak sentiments, Hyundai achieved its highest-ever single month sales of 39,525 units with highest-ever financial Year sales of 4,20,668 units. The market share of 16.3 per cent was highest-ever with strong performance of successful launch of new models like Elite, i20 Active, Xcent and Verna and lead by strong marketing initiatives to engage rural markets and repeat buyers,” said Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice-president, sales and marketing, HMIL.
