Hyundai has taken the wraps off its 2016 WRC rally car at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. It will make its debut at the 2016 Rally of Monte Carlo and is the first vehicle from the South Korean automaker’s high performance ‘N’ division.
The rally-spec i20 is based on the second-generation (Elite for India) i20 premium hatchback and gets most of its prominent design elements like the roofline and grille.
The car gets a multi-coloured paint scheme comprising of shades like blue, black, white and orange which is most visible on the rear wheels.
Visible rally specific elements on the car include the roof scoop, rear spoiler, Michelin rally-spec tyres, lowered stance and clips on the bonnet and rear hatch.
Hyundai has revealed that the car gets an updated aero package and improved weight distribution for better handling.
No details have been revealed about the engine, but we believe that it will continue with the 1.6-litre petrol mill that produces 300bhp/ 400Nm and is mated to a six-speed sequential box.
