The likes of Volkswagen Cross Polo, Fiat Avventura and Toyota Etios Cross are about to come across a tough contender as Hyundai India is about to launch its own hatchback based crossover model. According to a few recent reports, Hyundai is expected to launch the i20 Active on March 17 in India.
The i20 Active has been spied on test several times with the latest spy photos showing it in an undisguised avatar. Conceived at Hyundai’s design centre in Russelsheim, Germany, the i20 Active adopts the company's 'Fluidic Sculpture 2.0' design language and gets a sharper and bolder look in comparison to the i20 hatchback. The renderings shown recently display the i20 Active's SUV-like appearance and the aggressive looking side profile.
The i20 Active is expected to be powered by the same set of engines as the i20 hatchback although this crossover avatar will have an upper hand over the hatchback due to its bold new design. When launched, Hyundai will pit its new model against other hatchback-based crossovers like the Volkswagen Cross Polo, Fiat Avventura and the Toyota Etios Cross.
