The Hyundai Elite i20 based crossover has been spotted sans camouflage and will be called i20 Active. The pictures reveal that the Hyundai has taken the standard formula of adding a body kit to a hatchback and giving us a pseudo crossover. It is expected to be launched in 6 variants with both petrol and diesel engine options.
The exterior gets a body kit, roof rails and a modified front grille as well as rear reflectors. Thanks to the addition of the body kit, the car looks beefier and appears to have a squatter stance. Earlier pictures of the test cars show that there will be no changes to the interior of the car as compared to its hatchback sibling. The engines powering the i20 Active will remain unchanged from the Elite i20. This means a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 82bhp and 115Nm of torque as well as a 1.4-litre diesel engine that produces 89bhp and 220Nm of torque. The former gets a five-speed manual while the diesel gets a six-speed manual. It is expected that the 1.4-litre petrol engine with the four-speed AT will make a return with this model. We expect that it will be priced in the range of Rs six lakh to Rs 11 lakh and will compete with the Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura and the Volkswagen Cross Polo.
