The HB20 is a Brazil-exclusive model manufactured and sold by Hyundai Motor Brasil. Designed to take on the compact hatchback segment which is the biggest and most competitive segment in the country's auto industry, the HB20 is a fairly good looking vehicle. It is one that offers lots of equipment and decent performance for the price.
The HB20, however, has been spied on test in China, signifying Hyundai’s plans to launch this model in the Chinese market in the future.
In Brazil, the Hyundai HB20 comes with three powertrains: 1-litre and 1.6litre with a manual gearbox and 1.6-litre with an automatic unit. The smaller 1-litre is a three cylinder unit producing 75bhp while the four cylinder 1.6-litre makes 128bhp.
For the Chinese market, Hyundai is expected to position this model right at the bottom of its range with sales restricted to second and third tier cities. According to the report, the car will be manufactured under the Beijing-Hyundai joint venture and will be launched in China in 2015.
