- Powered by a 1.2-litre NA engine
- Gets five-speed automated manual gearbox
The Hyundai Exter has been around for some time now and it is bringing in good sales numbers for Hyundai India. Essentially, it is a Grand i10 Nios with a different top hat and more features. Hyundai has given it crossover-like design elements to make it look more substantial and high-end features such as paddle shifters and a sunroof. Here, we have tested the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a five-speed AMT for its real-world mileage.
Real-world mileage
The 1.2-litre engine makes 82bhp and 114Nm and officially, the Exter has a claimed mileage of 19.2kmpl. In our real-world mileage test, the car returned 10.7kmpl in the city conditions with the MID indicating 11.1kmpl, while out on the highway, we got 18.5kmpl with an MID-indicated 20.1kmpl. This gives us an average of 12.64kmpl and considering a tank capacity of 37 litres, it translates to a real-world range of 468km.
New Exter variants
Hyundai has just introduced new variants for the Exter. They are dubbed S+ AMT and S (O )+ MT, priced at Rs. 7.86 lakh and Rs. 8.43 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. The ‘+’ in both these cases is the addition of a sunroof as a feature for the model and they are priced Rs. 28,000 (MT) and Rs. 31,000 (AMT) over the non-sunroof counterparts.
