- Offered in three variants
- Misses out on the spare wheel
Hyundai India recently launched the twin CNG cylinder version of the Exter. The Hy-CNG Duo of the Exter is being offered in three variants – S, SX, and SX Knight Edition, at a starting ex-showroom price of Rs. 8.5 lakh. Now, post its launch, the model has started reaching dealerships across India.
The Exter with the dual CNG tanks is based on a similar principle as Tata’s twin CNG cylinder tech. Instead of one CNG tank of a 60-litre capacity, the model comes equipped with twin tanks with a 30-litre capacity each. As these tanks are placed inside the boot and occupy less space, eventually it results in higher usable boot space for luggage. However, due to this, the Exter Hy-CNG Duo versions miss out on a spare wheel completely and make do with a puncture repair kit.
Mechanically, the Exter comes equipped with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder NA petrol engine coupled with a five-speed manual and an AMT gearbox. Meanwhile, in CNG guise, this motor is paired only to a manual gearbox. Notably, the new CNG tech of the Exter results in an average of 27.1km/kg in the CNG mode.
