Hyundai India, following the footsteps of Tata Motors with their innovative twin CNG cylinder tank tech, has launched a similar CNG system for the Exter in India. The Exter CNG Duo is available at a starting price of Rs. 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom), across three variants – S, SX, and the recently launched SX Knight Edition.
Mechanically, the Exter with this new CNG system continues to source power from a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. However, unlike a single CNG cylinder fitment, the CNG Duo gets twin tanks for the CNG with an integrated ECU for a seamless transition between both fuel options. In this state of tune, the Exter can deliver a claimed fuel efficiency of 27.1km/kg with a CNG capacity of 60 litres. Moreover, the single-tank Exter CNG will continue be on sale alongside the new iteration.
