Speculations on the 1.0-litre version of the Hyundai Eon being made available soon have been confirmed. The car is now on sale and has been priced at Rs 3.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Deliveries are expected to commence next month.
According to the reports, the Eon 1.0 is likely to be available in the mid-spec Magna variant only. Apart from the music system, all the other features will be there. This list includes front air-conditioning, power steering, power windows, engine immobiliser, keyless entry and full wheel caps for the tyres.
The Hyundai Eon is currently offered with an 800cc engine that produces 55bhp and 75Nm of torque. This three-cylinder 1.0-litre Kappa mill, in the new variant, is currently on offer in Europe where it has been tuned to produce 65bhp and 95Nm of torque and currently powers the new i10. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
The new 1.0-litre Hyundai Eon version goes up against the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Maruti Suzuki Estilo, Datsun GO, Chevrolet Spark and the Hyundai Santro Xing.
