Hyundai, a key player in the Indian market has silently introduced the Eon Sports edition to make things in the entry-level segment. Competing against the likes of Renault Kwid and Marut Suzuki Alto, the Korean automaker has introduced a new 6.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with phone link, AUX-in port and USB Port. Additionally, it also gets side-body moulding graphics and roof rails. The AVN system is connected to two speakers on the front door.
Hyundai Eon Sports Edition is limited to 0.8-litre Era+ and Magna+ trims. The Sports Edition Era+ trim additionally gets hub caps too. However, unlike with the regular trim, airbag is not offered as an optional accessory with the Sports Edition. The Sports Edition of the Magna+ also misses out on optional airbag as compared to a regular variant. The new edition cars continue to be powered by a 0.8-litre, 3-cylinder MPI petrol engine that comes mated to five-speed manual gearbox to generate 55bhp of power at 5,500 rpm and 74.5Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm.
With regards to pricing, the Era+ Sports Edition in a metallic paint finish costs an additional Rs 16,000 over the regular model, while the Magna+ Sports Edition in metallic paint finish costs an additional Rs 10,000 over the regular trim. The Ex-showroom, Delhi prices are as follows –
