Hyundai Elite i20 has stacked up 4,600 bookings in a matter of just 12 days since the company started its pre-launch bookings on August 1. Out of the total 4,600 bookings, 2,600 were for the petrol variants and 2,000 for the diesel variants.
Hyundai has targeted a monthly sales of 6,000 units with the Elite i20 and expects the diesel and petrol variants to sell in equal numbers. The number of bookings pretty much sum up that the company is in line to achieve its set target for now. The previous model managed to sell about 3500-3800 units which suggests that Hyundai is looking at a growth of 50 per cent.
Hyundai has managed to create quite a sensation with the launch of the Elite i20. However, this time around, the Elite i20 will have to face some serious competition. Honda will launch the Jazz next year, the Polo has got an updated engine, and the Swift will be getting a facelift and some changes to the interior. The premium hatchback segment is sure to heat up in the coming months and the biggest beneficiary will be the customer.
