Hyundai will officially launch the new and updated Elite i20 facelift at the 2018 Auto Expo stage. However, the B-segment hatch has been leaked online ahead of its official premiere.
The car was spotted at what looks like a dealership yard. The most prominent update is the new cascading grille which is directly scrounged from the new and updated Grand i10 and the Xcent. The front bumper is reworked with stylish fog lamp design. The headlights though get very subtle updates. At the rear, the bumpers get the similar motif as is seen on its siblings. The license plates moves to the tail gate rather than on the bumpers as before. Meanwhile the tail lights have received a new horizontal LED lighting signature. Although some part of it is still covered, the new design element will definitely help the car feel fresh.
Expect some new stylish alloy designs as well. On the inside, there’s a new larger touchscreen infotainment display, Verna’s multifunction steering wheel, and a dash of chrome trim. The new screen is expected to come with smartphone connectivity like Apple Carplay and Android Auto while the climate control and rear view camera will also be offered. There won’t be any changes under the hood. The 82bhp 1.2-litre petrol and 89bhp 1.4-litre diesel engines will come five-speed and six-speed manuals respectively. However, Hyundai might debut a new automatic with the 1.2-litre petrol motor with the Elite i20 facelift.
The Elite i20 is one of the highest selling model for the Korean carmaker. It last received a major update in 2015. Prices are expected to remain similar to the current car. When launched it will continue its fray with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and Ford Figo.
