The Hyundai Elantra with fluidic lines like the rest of the current Hyundai range is scheduled to launch by the second week of August. It will be powered by two engines, the globally-available 1.8-litre petrol that develops 147bhp and a 1.6-litre diesel based on the Verna's unit that generates 126bhp. Both engines will be mated to six-speed manual or automatic transmissions.
Expect a class-leading features list including leather, two-zone air-conditioning and as many airbags as are offered worldwide on the top-spec model. You can also expect competitive pricing in the range of Rs 12-16 lakhs when it goes on sale.
