Hyundai launched the all-new Elantra for the Indian market on August 23 and priced it at Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). They had announced during the launch that they planned to sell around 350 units a month which would allow then to capture 35 per cent of the segment. However, it looks like their fortunes with car are already going in the right direction as they have, within the first 8 days, got 405 bookings and 7,817 enquires for the D-segment sedan.
This is sixth generation globally but the third for the Indian market. The car sports an evolutionary design and gets a completely new cabin. Under the hood, it is being offered with a new 2.0-litre petrol engine as well as the more familiar 1.6-litre four cylinder diesel. There are 9 variants and five colour options.
Commenting on the success of the Elantra, YK Koo, managing director and CEO, Hyundai Motor India said, “We are overwhelmed with the customer’s response of more than 7817 enquiries and 405 bookings received for The All New Elantra. This reflects the strong customer connect and confidence on Hyundai products. We thank our customers, channel partners, employees and media who have chosen The All New Elantra as an admirable modern premium brand.”
