Hyundai has launched the new feature loaded Elantra fluidic in India for starting price of Rs 12.51 (ex-showroom Delhi). The new D-segment model is available in both petrol and diesel guise and the top-end diesel variant costs Rs 15.85 lakh.
The new fifth generation Elantra fluidic competes with the Toyota Cororlla Altis, Skoda Laura, Chevrolet Cruze, Renault Fluence and others in the segment. Internationally the Elantra is powered only by petrol engine – 1.8-litre VTVT making 150bhp and 178Nm. However, in India the sedan also gets a diesel mill – the same 1.6-litre VGT from the Verna with output of 126bhp and 260Nm of torque. Hyundai cars are generally feature-loaded and so is the Elantra. Two airbags and ABS will be standard across all models; the top-end will have six airbags, cruise control, electrically adjustable front seats, push start etc. The company will also be offering six-speed automatic transmission with both petrol and diesel top-end variants. The Elantra already has over 750 pre-bookings in last one month.
