The buzz around the new Hyundai Elantra fluidic started almost a month back, with the Korean car maker opening booking for the D-Segment sedan for a nominal amount of Rs 25,000. Now we are just one day away from launch of yet another fluidic sculpt car from Hyundai that has been quite successful in the international market. We have already spent some time with the new Elantra fluidic and have first drive review for you to know this car a little better.
The Hyundai Elantra will be launched in both petrol and diesel guise, with least three variants with engine option. The petrol version of the car will be powered by 1.8-4-cylinder litre VTVT engine building 150bhp and 177Nm torque. There is no diesel engine for the international market; however, Hyundai is offering oil-burner in India – a little better tuned version of the 1.6-litre VGT used in the C-segment Verna – 128bhp and 259Nm of torque.
The new car will slot perfectly between the Verna and the Sonata, further heating the battle in the D-segment with the Toyota Corolla Altis, Skoda Laura, Renault Fluence, Chevrolet Cruze, Honda Civic and Volkswagen Jetta. There will be at least three variants each of petrol and diesel models – with top-end also getting a six-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai cars are generally features loaded and so will be the Elantra. Two airbags and ABS will be standard across all models; top-end will have six-airbags, cruise control, electric front seats, push start and many more features.
Stay tuned as we bring you exact details of the new Hyundai Elantra including prices, specs, features and other details in the first half tomorrow – 13 August.
