- Elantra facelift will be offered only with a petrol engine at launch
- The diesel-powered model could arrive sometime later
Hyundai India will launch the facelifted Elantra in the country by the end of the current month. Currently, the model is offered with a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 1.6-litre diesel engine.
Hyundai is expected to update the 2.0-litre petrol engine to comply with the BS-VI emission norms while the diesel motor is likely to be given a miss at launch. Hyundai could be phasing out the 1.6-litre diesel mill and it might be replaced by the 1.5-litre diesel unit from the Kia Seltos sometime later. This engine will also make its way into the upcoming versions of the Verna and the Creta.
Design updates to the Hyundai Elantra facelift will include the signature cascading grille, LED headlamps, boomerang-shaped fog lamps, LED tail-lights and redesigned front and rear bumpers. Also on offer will be new alloy wheels.
Feature highlights of the Hyundai Elantra facelift will come equipped with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration, wireless charging, blind-spot monitoring system, lane departure warning, active lane control and autonomous braking.
