Hyundai Creta launched in India at Rs 8.59 lakh

The Hyundai Creta compact SUV has been launched in India at Rs 8.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is available in 10 variants with two diesels and one petrol engine option, with the top-spec diesel priced at Rs 13.60 lakh.

Appearing to be a smaller version of the Santa Fe, the Creta takes on the Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and soon to be launched S-Cross in the compact SUV segment. There are three engine options – 1.6-litre VTVT petrol, 1.4-litre CRDi diesel and 1.6-litre CRDi VGT diesel. All the engines power the front wheels via six-speed manual transmission; while the top-end diesel also gets an optional six-speed AT from the Elantra.  The petrol engine is rated at 121bhp and 151Nm of torque while the 1.4 diesel engine is good to produce 89bhp and 220Nm torque.  The 1.6 litre CRDi diesel has segment-leading power figures at 125bhp and 260Nm.

The Creta will be spread across six different trim levels starting from BASE, S, S+, SX, SX+ and SX(O). The feature list on the top-end versions includes projector headlamps with DRLs, 17-inch diamond cut alloy-wheels, five-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, push-button start, rear AC vents and a 12V socket for both rows. The basic safety features like ABS, EBD and front airbags are standard across all variants, while the top trim gets the Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC) and Side and Curtain Airbags.

The Creta is available in seven colour options – polar white, magic blue, sleek silver, red passion, pearl beige, stardust and phantom black. The Hyundai Creta competes in the Indian market with the Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and the Nissan Terrano.
