Introduced in July 2015, the Creta has been a grand success for Hyundai India. It boasts of a convincing mix of performance, efficiency and comfort which has helped it attract so many buyers so far. Now, there’s a facelifted model that will go on sale in China in July before heading our way.
In China, the Creta is sold as the ix25 and in terms of design upgrades; the new Creta gets a restyled bumper and more plastic cladding across the lower half. The grille, too, is noticeably different although it is reminiscent of newer Audis with its chrome edges blending into the LED daytime running lights.
On the inside, the new Creta gets different seat upholstery and an upgraded infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Other features include ventilated driver’s seat, engine start/stop button, parking sensors, cornering lights, six airbags, ESP and more.
In China, the Creta gets a 125bhp 1.6-litre unit, a 160bhp 2-litre unit and a 160bhp turbocharged 1.6 turbo. While the NA and turbo 1.6 unit will continue to be used, the bigger 2-litre has been discontinued for this model.
Given its immense popularity here in the Indian market, we expect these upgrades to reflect on the facelifted model that will eventually arrive in the country to take on the existing brigade of crossovers and D-segment sedans.
