- To debut in January 2025
- Will be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025
After a not-so-good run in the segment with the Kona Electric, Hyundai India is working on a new mid-size all-electric SUV. And to bank on having a successful go at it this time, the Korean maker has chosen their best-selling SUV in the country, the Creta. Now, we are aware of the launch timeline of the Creta EV, which is scheduled to make its debut by the end of this year with a launch date set for January 2025.
We have learned that the Creta EV will be built on a modified version of Creta’s K2 Platform instead of having a completely new or Kona’s platform. This will allow the carmaker to keep the costs in check and also share many parts and components between the ICE Creta and the Creta EV.
Details regarding the powertrain, battery pack, and technical specifications are scarce at the moment. However, it is safe to assume that the Creta EV could be offered with two battery pack options with a range of up to 500km (approximate figure). In comparison, the Tata Curvv EV is currently on sale with two battery specs – 45kWh and 55kWh with a claimed driving range of 502km and 585km, respectively.
Coming to the rivals, apart from the Tata Curvv EV, the Creta EV will have competitors in the form of the Mahindra XUV400 and the BYD Atto 3. Moreover, the first all-electric vehicle from Suzuki, the eVX is set to debut at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, potentially becoming a rival to the Hyundai Creta EV.
