Hyundai is planning to offer automatic transmission with more variants of the Creta. The SUV should get lower spec diesel automatic version, along with a petrol automatic variant to cater to the increasing demand for AT cars.
Currently only the 1.6-litre diesel Creta SX+ variant is offered with an automatic transmission, rest of the variants only get the manual gearbox powering the front wheels. Till recently, the Creta was the only car available without the third pedal, in its segment. This changed with the launch of the Renault Duster AMT last, which is substantially cheaper than the Hyundai SUV. To further strengthen its position, Hyundai is expected to introduce AT in the S+ trim, along with similar six-speed AT in the SX+ petrol trim.
The Creta SX+ AT cost about Rs 1 lakh more than the manual variant and we will probably see the same pricing pattern in the S+ trim as well. We anticipate that the S+ AT might carry a price tag of Rs 13 lakh to position it closer to the Duster RxZ AMT variant. Going by the current pricing, the Creta AT costs over Rs 2.5 lakh more than the more affordable Duster AMT, though the Renault SUV does not offer proper automatic transmission, it still does the same job by eliminates the clutch operation. The top-end petrol trim with AT is likely to be priced between Rs 12.5 lakh to Rs 13 lakh.
