The upcoming Hyundai Verna is all set to make its debut in India on 22 August 2017. The carmaker will announce the variant-wise prices that day at an event in Delhi.
The 2017 Hyundai Verna gets comprehensive cosmetic and feature updates. The sedan is based on the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language and looks similar to the Accent revealed in Canada and the Solaris sold in Russia. The key updates up front include new LED DRLs, projector head lamps, a cascade design chrome grille, projector fog lamps with cornering lamps and chrome surrounds. The car will ride on 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and feature LED tail lamps.
The engines for the 2017 Verna will be carried over from the outgoing model. The present one is offered with two powertrains – a 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.6-litre diesel unit. Both these engines are expected to be calibrated to offer better fuel efficiency than the current model. As for the transmission options, the sedan will continue to get a six-speed manual. However, a new six-speed automatic gearbox is also expected to be introduced.
Hyundai has already begun the pre-launch promotions by releasing teasers and videos. We expect the upcoming Hyundai Verna to be priced in the range of Rs 8 lakhs to Rs 14 lakhs (ex-showroom New Delhi). It will continue to compete against the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, VW Vento and the Skoda Rapid in India.
