- First million took 8 years

Hyundai India has become the second car maker in India to hit the 8 million production mark and has been the fastest to reach there in 19 years and 6 months. Hyundai’s India journey started with the Santro back in 1998 and the 8 millionth car to be built is Hyundai’s current bestseller, the 2018 Hyundai Creta.
Hyundai is also the leading car exporter from India and has built more than 27 lakh cars for foreign markets and is committed to the ‘Make in India’ drive by the government of India. Hyundai has been a pioneer in many ways in the Indian market. The first CRDi diesel technology was launched way back in 2002 with the Hyundai Accent, the car which also saw the debut of ABS technology in the non-luxury passenger car market in India.
The Hyundai i20 was also the first premium hatchback to be sold in India, pioneering the segment that has become the highest-selling car segment in the country. It took Hyundai almost 8 years to build the first million, while the second took just 31 months. After 2008, every million took an average of 19 months with products like the Verna, the Grand i10 and the Hyundai Creta joining the i20 as Hyundai’s stars.
With over 1,300 service points across the country, Hyundai has a wide reach. Also complementing the service reach are its feature-rich products, four of which – the Grand i10, Elite i20, the Creta and the Verna won the prestigious Indian Car of the Year awards.
