Hyundai in Brazil is all set to launch a restyled variant of the current Hyundai HB20 called the R-spec. The R-spec concept was showcased at the Sao Paulo Auto Show and the Korean brand is keen to introduce this version after the response it received at the show.
While the R-spec version does not fully inherit the lines of the concept that was revealed, it has retained most of the sporty elements that made it stand out at the show. Exteriors will include a honeycomb grille that’s finished in graphite, exterior mirrors draped in black paint, a new rear fender and a set of new 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. Interiors will carry on most of the features of the present car but will add a sporty red finish to the temperature and fuel gauges, and the air-vent surrounds. The steering wheel and gear knob is also expected to be covered in leather.
Hyundai has chosen to let the HB20 R-spec use the same 1.6-litre engine that does duty on the regular HB20. And this means that the motor will produce 122bhp at 6,000rpm and 160Nm at 4,500 rpm with the option of either a manual transmission or a six-speed automatic.
Hyundai may slot the HB20 R-spec between the current variants called the ‘Comfort Style’ and ‘Premium’, and should announce prices soon. Stay tuned to Carwale for more information on this.
