- Hyundai Aura likely to be unveiled at 2020 Auto Expo
- The model is based on the Grand i10 Nios
Hyundai India has begun road-testing the Aura compact sedan ahead of its debut that is likely to take place at the 2020 Auto Expo. The endurance tests will see the Aura testing its strengths and capabilities in Indian weather and driving conditions. The model will cover everything from the deserts to the great Himalayas and the eastern coastlines.
Currently in its final phase of testing, the Hyundai Aura is a compact sedan based on the Grand i10 Nios, details of which are available here. The Xcent compact sedan, predecessor to the Aura, was unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo, followed by the launch later in the year. We expect the same timelines to be followed for the Aura compact sedan.
Design wise, the new Hyundai Aura compact sedan will receive a fascia similar to the Grand i10 Nios, including a cascading grille with integrated boomerang shaped DRLs, triangular fog light housings and projector headlamps. Also on offer would be LED tail lights, new alloy wheels and a dual-tone paintjob.
Engine options on the upcoming Hyundai Aura could include a BS-VI compliant 1.2-litre petrol engine that made its debut on the Grand i10 Nios while a BS-VI compliant 1.2-litre diesel mill could be introduced later. Transmission options may include a five-speed manual gearbox and an AMT unit.
