According to a report in the Financial Express, Honda’s new car plant at Tapukara in Rajasthan is expected to begin production in March, 2014. It also says that the new plant will be used to produce the recently unveiled Mobilio MPV and the Amaze compact sedan, of which the latter is expected to be launched somewhere between April and May.
The report reveals Honda’s launch plans for the next year. First up is the City which will be launched in January 2014 while the Mobilio is expected to follow sometime in April or May. The new Jazz/Fit is will make its Indian debut at the end of next year but we also expect that Honda will bring the Vezel crossover to India a few months before the launch of the Jazz.
The new plant is expected to increase the automaker’s total production capacity (Tapukara and Greater Noida) from 1.7 lakh units to 2.9 lakh units annually. Such a move will help reduce pressure on their existing plant which is currently believed to be running on fully capacity thanks to the high demand for the Amaze.
