Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) sold 9,332 cars in India in November 2013. The carmaker had sold 3,711 cars in the corresponding month in 2012. This comparison shows a 151 per cent increase in the sales figures.
This boost in Honda sales was majorly assisted by the large demand for the Honda Amaze. It is reported that 7,598 units of the Amaze were sold in November. In the same month, 1,712 units of the Brio and 22 units of the CRV were sold. None of the City and Accord cars were sold. Honda exported 806 cars taking the count for total sales in November upto 10,138 units.
Honda is seeing an all-time up in the overall sales ever since it has launched the new Amaze. With sales of 50,000 units from the Amaze alone, Honda has sold 80,163 cars in the period from April to November 2013. In comparison to 47,236 units sold during the same period last year, the carmaker registered an overall growth of 70 per cent. These sales figures are only expected to improve with the launch of the new City in 2014.
Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., commenting on the sales performance, said, “Led by strong demand for Honda Amaze, HCIL has experienced robust sales month after month since April 2013. During November 2013, our sales grew up by 151 per cent. This month was also important as we unveiled the all-new fourth generation Honda City in India and we are confident that we will enter a new era of Honda’s dominance in premium cars with the City’s launch scheduled in January 2014.”
