Honda’s new compact SUV the Vezel has gone on sale in japan for 1.87 million Yen (Rs 11.14 lakh). The B-segment compact SUV was first revealed at the Detroit Motor Show in January as Jazz based SUV and was eventually christened the Vezel/CR-U at the ToKyo Motor Show last month.
It is being offered in the Japanese market with two engine options- a four-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol unit that produces 132bhp and 155Nm of torque as well as the same engine being mated to an electric motor which combined together produces 132PS and 155Nm of torque. Both engines are being offered with a CVT or seven-speed stepped CVT in 2WD or 4WD configuration.
The Vezel is being offered in eight different body shades and with two alloy wheels and one steel wheel option for the Japanese market. We have spoken in detail about the vehicle and you can find a link to the upcoming car at the bottom of this story.
The Honda Vezel is expected to be a surprise launch by the Japanese automaker in India for 2014. It will be offered here only in the 2WD option and more importantly with the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that currently powers the Amaze and City sedans. The Vezel or the CR-U as we expect it to be called here will give them access to the all-important compact crossover market that is rapidly expanding not just in India but globally also.
