Honda first unveiled the Vezel compact crossover at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. Boasting of a sporty, coupe-like styling and a well-built comfortable cabin designed to appeal to European buyers; the Vezel is scheduled to go on sale in Europe during 2015.
While the Europeans wait to get their hands on the Vezel, the Chinese have been presented with this new crossover at the ongoing Beijing Auto Show.
Based on a similar platform that also underpins the latest-generation Fit (Jazz for India), the Vezel will be built in China under the Guangzhou-Honda joint venture. Honda is expected to launch it by the end of this year with only one engine option i.e. the 1.5-litre four cylinder petrol engine. Mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT, the four cylinder unit produces close to 130bhp.
At present, the Vezel is exclusive to Japan and will reach the European markets by 2015 but the US markets will have to wait a little longer. When launched in other markets, the Vezel will be seen taking on the hugely successful Renault Duster and the Ford EcoSport.
