If you are the kind that loves the sight, the sound, the smell of racing and supercars, then the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed held in the UK is the place to go to fuel your passion. Honda is well aware of the fact and it’s why the brand has decided to bring a prototype of the NSX at the Goodwood and its world famous hill climb.
Set to launch in 2015, this new hybrid supercar will be shown at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed to be held between June 27 and 29. Interestingly, the NSX has a long-standing relationship with the Festival of Speed. Honda had showcased a fleet of 10 original NSX at Goodwood back in the year 1993 and now, more than two decades later, the new NSX is making its return to Goodwood.
The prototype for the 2015 model will be joined by a 1989 year model NSX, once driven by Ayrton Senna himself, and a mid-2000 version, exemplifying the original model’s history and development. As for the upcoming generation model, the car will be powered by a mid-mounted, twin-turbo V6 engine mated to a hybrid all-wheel-drive system which houses three electric motors. The three electric motors – one integrated with the V6 engine driving the rear wheels, and two motors driving the front wheels – feature torque vectoring on all four ends for faster cornering.
The original NSX holds an iconic status around the world and is amongst the most sought-after old school sports cars there ever have been. Honda will be hoping to maintain the gained status with the upcoming generation model which enters production next year.
