Honda Cars India will recall 90,210 units of the diesel variant of Honda City and the Honda Mobilio manufactured between December 2013 and July 2015 for an issue related to the fuel return pipe. The defective parts will be replaced free of cost at all Honda dealerships across India.
Honda says that the fuel return pipe may come loose in some of the cars built in the given period resulting in fuel leakage and eventual stalling of the engine. The issue affects the diesel variants of the Honda City produced between December 2013 and July 2015 summing up to 64,428 units. In the case of the Mobilio, it is again the diesel variant produced from June 2014 to July 2015, affecting 25,782 units.
The repairs will be undertaken in a phased manner starting December 19 and owners will be contacted individually by the company. Owners can also check if their car is affected online by submitting the 17-digit VIN number on a special microsite created on the Honda India website. In September, Honda had recalled over two lakh vehicles manufactured over nine years for an issue related to the airbag inflators.
