Honda has made it official that it will introduce a new line of turbocharged VTEC engines before the end of 2015. At the ongoing Detroit Motor Show, the Japanese automaker made revelations about this upcoming range of four cylinder VTEC engines with turbo power.
Alongside Honda’s existing hybrid and Earth Dreams Technology, this new engine range could come in the form of 1-litre, 1.5-litre and 2-litre to combine the brand’s renowned VTEC variable valve technology with turbocharging and direct injection for class-leading output and performance, while downsizing engine displacement.
Honda has also revealed that production of the new turbocharged VTEC engines will begin later this year at its Ohio engine plant, the largest automobile engine plant in Honda's global production network. Honda, in fact, is investing $340 million (around Rs 2,025 crore) for this new engine range that will use domestic and globally sourced parts.
