Honda is planning to export diesel engine components from India to international markets like Europe and Asia. This comes at a time when the Japanese manufacturer has lined up 3-4 diesel cars to boost its sales in India as well as increase its market share.
"We will export diesel engine components to Europe and South East Asian markets from India. This fiscal, the target is Rs 500 crore as against Rs 332 crore registered in 2012-13." said Jnaneswar Sen, SVP, Honda Cars India.
The company is betting big on its Rajasthan plant which is being built with an investment of Rs 2,500 crore and is expected to be operational by mid-2014. This will take the company’s annual capacity to 22.4 lakh units.
The company official said that the four new models, the compact SUV, seven seater MPV, new Jazz and City may be introduced with 1.5 or 1.6-litre diesel engines along with petrol engines and is expected to be launched in next 2-3 years.
