Honda has made some major changes to its global line-up of environmentally friendly vehicles. For 2016, the Japanese firm is about to introduce as well as discontinue a number of vehicles from its existing line-up.
The brand will launch the tenth-generation Civic later this year. However, the Civic line-up will no longer include a hybrid or a CNG model, as Honda will discontinue production of both of these products with the end of the 2015 model year vehicle.
Honda has promoted CNG-powered vehicles for many years but the brand says that infrastructure for natural gas refuelling and consumer demand remains a challenge; which is why production of the Civic CNG will soon be canned.
The plug-in hybrid version of the Accord will be discontinued, too, as the scheduled launch of a new dedicated plug-in model comes into the horizon.
The new Accord Hybrid, set to debut in early 2016, will feature the next-generation of Honda's two-motor hybrid system for even greater fuel economy and performance.
