Honda has announced that it will bring the Jazz-based crossover and S660 two-seater concept car to the Tokyo Motor Show slated to begin next month. It had previewed the Jazz-based Urban SUV concept vehicle at this year’s Detroit Motor Show and is expected to display the production version now that the 2014 Jazz/Fit has been officially launched. The S660 concept car is a two-seater 660CC engine Kei specification car that stays in line with vehicles like the S600, S2000 and the CR-X del sol.
The Jazz-based Urban SUV is most likely the second vehicle to embody the Japanese automaker’s Exciting H Design philosophy and will share much of design and components with the recently launched 2014 Jazz/Fit. It is expected to be Honda’s entry into the highly competitive crossover/mini SUV segment that seems to have taken the world by storm over the last few years.
The S660 concept is a 660cc two-seater vehicle and seems to be a direct successor to the S600 car from the late 1960s. It shares much of its design with the EV-STER electrical vehicle that was unveiled in 2011. The engine produces 64bhp and is likely to be mated to some kind of electrical motor to increase the power figure. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a seven-speed CVT.
While the Jazz-based SUV is expected to be a global model and will go on sale in many countries, the S660 is expected to be a JDM specific model. We in India are sure to get the new Jazz-based SUV sometime next year where it will also be made available with a diesel engine.
