Honda has released a teaser image of the new Jazz on its official Facebook page, announcing that the hatchback will be launched in India in July.
The Jazz has been styled along the lines of Honda's new 'Exciting H Design!!!' philosophy, while the interior design has been carried over from the City. In India, the Jazz will also be sold with the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine and the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, which are also used in the Amaze, Mobilio and the City. Both the engines are mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, though the petrol will also get the option of a CVT unit.
The success of the Amaze, City and Mobilio seems to have encouraged Honda to re-enter the premium hatchback segment in India with this third generation model. The new Jazz is more compact than the model it replaces, firmly placing it in the sub-four metre category. This should enable the Japanese manufacturer to price the new Jazz very competitively, which should help it put up a good fight against the Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and the Fiat Punto Evo.
