Honda India has stopped production of the Jazz hatchback according to a report from Autocar India. However, the report says that Honda will complete deliveries of all those who had already booked the car.
One of the major reasons why Honda has stopped production of the Jazz is for it to make way for the Amaze sedan which will be launched for the Indian market in April. There is also the fact that the Jazz which was quite successful when it got a price cut two years ago has become a relatively low seller after petrol prices got de-regulated. The report also suggests that Honda is losing money on every Jazz it sells and has minimised production to cut its losses.
Honda sold 61 Jazz hatchbacks in January 2013 and there is a waiting period for the car. However, this is not the end for the Jazz in India. It is expected to return around mid-2014 once Honda introduces an all-new model with a diesel engine. This will be the same 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine that will power the Amaze sedan producing around 85-90bhp.
