Honda Cars India has not had very large export numbers so far, with just over 1000 total units being exported to neighbouring countries like Nepal and Bhutan over the time they have been manufacturing in India. Now they are beginning exports on a significant scale to Africa.
The first product to be exported is the Brio, and it will be sent to the South African market to begin with. The target is to export over 1600 units by the end of the current financial year. The company has chosen Mumbai as it's export hub since it already has infrastructure in place to import parts and models there. The first batch of Brios is 390 units, and will go to Africa and the South African Development Community countries. Both manual and automatic Brios will be exported.
