Honda showcased a surprise Urban EV Concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Following that, the Japanese carmaker will unveil another electric concept – the Sports EV Concept – at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. The single teaser images suggest it to be an electric sports car version of the Frankfurt’s Urban EV Concept.
The Sports EV Concept will be based on the same new dedicated electric platform which debuted in the Urban EV Concept. The design elements will be scrounged from the retro-futuristic concept as well. As can be seen in the single teaser image, the tail lights are LED and squared-off akin to the ones on the Urban EV. A sloping coupe-esque roofline coupled with flared wheel arches are imminent on the sporty concept.
Details regarding the new Sports EV Concept is scarce at the moment. But Honda says the concept will have a “striking silhouette, friendly face and supple body surfaces, all designed to ensure the car blends into any lifestyle.” And that the sporty electric car is “designed to deliver a feeling of joy and emotional unity to the drive, achieved by efficiently combining the EV power unit and AI technology in a compact body shape.”
Honda has not given out any powertrain details of the Urban EV Concept and the same will be the case with the Sports EV Concept. However, the showcar will have a minimalistic interior with all the connectivity features.
CarWale will be there at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show which opens its gates on 27 October. Stay tuned.
