Honda Siel Cars India is offering discounts ranging between Rs 19,000 to Rs 31,000 on all its models except for the CR-V which is a CBU. The reduction came into effect when the central government revised the Central Value Added Tax (CENVAT).
Mr. M. Takedagawa, President & CEO, Honda Siel Cars India, commented, “The reduction in duty will give the necessary boost to consumer demand. We feel it will also arrest the negative growth in the automobile sector.â€
The City is now cheaper by up to Rs 21,000, the Civic up to Rs 31,000 and the Accord up to     Rs 28,000. Honda had plans to increase the cost of its production models as the rupee weakened, and  Honda still plans for a price hike of up to Rs 1lakh for the Honda CR-V, within the first week of January 2009.
