Honda Cars India registered domestic sales of 5,493 units in December 2013 as against 4,242 units sold during December 2012; this shows a growth of 30 per cent flat. The Japanese auto major registered an overall growth of 66 per cent in April – December 2013 with 85,656 units as against 51,478 units during the corresponding period last year.
Commenting on the company’s performance, Mr.Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President – Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., said, “Year 2013 has been very good for our business as we crossed one lakh units in domestic sales for the first time in a calendar year with a total sales volume of 107,661 units during Jan – Dec 2013. The all-new Honda City has received an overwhelming response after its global preview in November 2013.We are looking forward to the launch of the New City and expect to continue with the growth momentum to continue in the New Year.”
The model wise sales break-up for December 2013 shows the Amaze at 4,458 units has sold the lion’s share of the overall numbers in the last month followed by the Brio at 1,026 and the Accord at nine units. Honda is one of the few companies that remained unaffected by the economic slowdown. Their prompt decision to phase out lagging models and concentration on fresh products has bailed them out in 2013.
The Amaze has set the sales charts ablaze and with the all-new City’s launch just round the corner, and the Mobilio and Jazz coming later in the year, Honda’s sales figures are bound to improve exponentially in 2014.
